Report: Jalen Ramsey won’t play vs. Philadelphia Eagles despite return to Miami Dolphins practice Wednesday

Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey reportedly will return to practice for the team on Wednesday.

Ramsey has been out of the lineup with a torn meniscus that he suffered in the offseason. While the star corner will practice, he is not expected to play in the team’s Week 7 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Even though the Dolphins won’t have him this week, it’s a great sign for the team to get Ramsey back on the practice field. Since he only has a 21-day window to return, it appears that the team believes he will be good to go within the next three weeks.

Ramsey posted on social media to seemingly confirm his return to practice and show off a new haircut.

The Dolphins have gotten off to a great start in the 2023 season, winning five of their first six games. They are currently in first place in the AFC East, and things may only be getting better with Ramsey on his way back for the team.

A former All-Pro, Ramsey would be a massive addition to the Miami defense, especially since the team has struggled a little at defending the pass this season.

Through six games, the Dolphins rank 22nd in the NFL in passing yards allowed. They’ve allowed eight passing touchdowns as well.

The team’s offense has made up for any defensive deficiencies so far this season, but the team would love to have both units humming for a potential playoff run.

Ramsey should help the team improve in those categories. Last season, he appeared in all 17 games for the Los Angeles Rams, picking off four passes in the process. He finished with a career-high 88 combined tackles, 18 passes defended, four tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Without Ramsey, the Dolphins have relied on Kader Kohou, Justin Bethel and Eli Apple to play the corner spot alongside star Xavien Howard.

The Dolphins may be activating Ramsey at the perfect time, as the team plays the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes in Week 9 of the 2023 season. It’s possible that Ramsey will be able to return for that game or even the team’s Week 8 matchup with the New England Patriots.
