Jalen Ramsey offers incredibly positive update on recovery from knee surgery

Jalen Ramsey continues to provide positive updates as the Miami Dolphins star cornerback recovers from knee surgery following a training camp injury.

Ramsey’s upbeat report on his rehabilitation follows earlier comments relayed by head coach Mike McDaniel that the 28-year-old expects to beat the timeline for his return to action “by a month.”

The former first-round pick was injured in a practice almost right after training camp opened in late July. He had surgery to repair his meniscus, and reports for a recovery prognosis have gone as high as many months.

Ramsey arrived in Miami this offseason after a trade with the Los Angeles Rams, where he won the Super Bowl for the 2021 NFL season. He has been named an All-Pro player three times in his seven NFL seasons and recently been very durable, missing just two games over the past three seasons. He played 17 games for the first time last season with the Rams, when he matched his career-high mark in interceptions with four and made a career-high 88 combined tackles.

The Dolphins play their first preseason game Aug. 11 against the Atlanta Falcons and open the regular season Sept. 10 at the Los Angeles Chargers in what was set to be Ramsey’s return to SoFi Stadium, his former home with the Rams.

Miami certainly is looking to get off to a good start in the very competitive AFC East, and the sooner Ramsey can get back, obviously the better. Key dates to keep an eye on are Oct. 1, when the Dolphins play at the Buffalo Bills in Week 4, Oct. 22, when they visit the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 7 and Nov. 5, when they play the Kansas City Chiefs in Germany in Week 9.

The Dolphins went out and signed cornerback Eli Apple after Ramsey was injured, and he could start opposite Xavien Howard, who believes that he remains a top cornerback in the league.

Even with Ramsey’s injury, Miami is heading into this season with very high hopes, including some players who believe their defense can be a top-five unit in the NFL. His return, whenever that might be, certainly would give the Dolphins a much better chance at hitting those lofty heights.
