Tyreek Hill, the star wide receiver of the Miami Dolphins, was recently involved in an incident where he allegedly assaulted a man, and although no charges have been filed, he may not be out of the woods yet.
The NFL has reportedly launched an investigation into the incident, which means Hill could end up facing some type of discipline from the league.
“Last week, the league had no comment when asked by PFT whether it was looking into the latest incident involving Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill,” wrote Mike Florio of NBC Sports. “This week, the NFL officially launched an investigation.”
It looks like the league will leave no stone unturned while performing its investigation.
The incident in question happened on a boat in Miami-Dade County. Hill got on a privately docked fishing boat, but its captain told him to leave. The wideout became verbally enraged, and he ended up allegedly slapping the captain.
Hill later offered the captain $200 and an apology, but the captain turned down the offer.
Hill, who has made the Pro Bowl in each of his seven pro seasons, landed in Miami last offseason as part of an unexpected blockbuster trade with the Kansas City Chiefs. His arrival immediately transformed the Dolphins into a playoff team that had to be taken seriously by the rest of the league.
He put up a career-high 1,710 receiving yards in 2022 while also catching seven touchdown passes, and as a result, the Dolphins had a passing offense that looked downright explosive at times. He also took lots of pressure off Jaylen Waddle, who had an outstanding second NFL season.
For 2023, Miami is looking to take the next step and become legitimate Super Bowl contenders, a status it hasn’t enjoyed in decades. The one move that could put it into that stratosphere is signing four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook, who was recently released by the Minnesota Vikings.
The team reportedly has made an offer to Cook, although it looks like he won’t decide who to sign with for a little while.
