Report: Tyreek Hill under police investigation

The Miami Dolphins are very optimistic about the upcoming NFL season, but there may be a cloud forming over them.

Star wide receiver Tyreek Hill is reportedly under police investigation after he allegedly hit a man.

Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill is under investigation by the Miami-Dade Police Department, and Local 10 News has learned the wide receiver allegedly hit a man working at Haulover Marina,” wrote Ian Margol of local ABC affiliate WPLG.

“Hill shared an Instagram story over the weekend showing a Father’s Day celebration on a boat.

“According to a tip received by Local 10 News, at around 6 p.m. Sunday, Hill got into some kind of disagreement with an employee of one of the charter companies based at Haulover Marina that apparently ended with Hill hitting the man.

“It’s unclear if the man was injured, but on Monday, Miami-Dade police were seen at the marina and on Tuesday, the department confirmed an investigation was underway involving Hill.”

It looks like perhaps Hill’s agent tried to deflect attention from the incident.

“Also on Tuesday, Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, tweeted out a video of him with a shark and said in the caption that he and Hill were fishing together,” Margol wrote.

“Local 10 News has reached out to Rosenhaus and his team several times on Tuesday but hadn’t heard back from them as of the time of this story’s publishing.”

Hill was traded to the Dolphins last offseason in a deal that took many people by surprise. He had spent his first six seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he made the Pro Bowl each year and won a Super Bowl championship in the 2019 campaign.

He instantly became quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s No. 1 target, and he posted a career-high 1,710 yards while scoring seven touchdowns during the 2022 season.

Hill also made life easier for Jaylen Waddle, the second-year wideout who had 1,356 yards and led the NFL with 18.1 yards per reception last season.

Miami’s defense, which was porous last season, looks to be upgraded thanks to the trade that landed Jalen Ramsey, a veteran star cornerback who earned a Super Bowl ring with the Los Angeles Rams during the 2021 campaign.

The team has a lackluster running attack, but there is lots of speculation that it will end up landing running back Dalvin Cook, who was recently released by the Minnesota Vikings.

Cook has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons, and he is a native of South Florida, which would make playing for the Dolphins seem like a natural fit for him.

Of course, the Dolphins’ hopes of going deep in the playoffs for the first time in what seems like forever rest on Tagovailoa’s ability to stay healthy.

He had multiple concussions last year, and at one point many suggested that he should retire for the sake of his own health.

But he will be back, and one hopes he avoids injury and brain trauma, especially after the breakout season he just completed.
