Tyreek Hill rips new report about Zion Williamson, compares his situation to Tua Tagovailoa’s with Miami Dolphins

Tyreek Hill is letting Zion Williamson know that some of the negative things being said about the New Orleans Pelicans star were also said about Tua Tagovailoa, and it’s working out just fine for the Miami Dolphins quarterback.

Hill was responding to a report from ESPN insider Brian Windhorst, who was addressing trade rumors that have heated up around Williamson early in this NBA offseason. The Pelicans may be looking to deal the 22-year-old after another injury-plagued season combined with their desire to move up in the 2023 NBA Draft, which is set for Thursday.

Hill was traded to the Dolphins before last season and has been in Tagovailoa’s corner ever since arriving from the Kansans City Chiefs. Despite questions about whether Hill would be the same player without Patrick Mahomes throwing him the ball, the wide receiver remained one of the NFL’s top players in the 2022 season.

Tagovailoa’s relationship with his teammates became a hot topic around this time last year due to a report very similar to the one about Williamson.

One teammate reportedly called the quarterback “standoffish,” and a local reporter wrote that the University of Alabama product needed to “come out of his shell,” noting a “disconnect” between the youngster and his teammates.

Those whispers came at a time when Tagovailoa hadn’t yet established himself as a potential franchise cornerstone for the Dolphins.

But after Mike McDaniel replaced Brian Flores as Miami’s head coach, and Tagovailoa continued to mature as a player and leader, Miami took off.

The former No. 5 overall pick had a career year in the 2022 season.

Like Williamson, Tagovailoa has dealt with injuries in his young career. He dealt with concussion issues last season, but the Dolphins still made the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 season. He unfortunately wasn’t able to play in Miami’s lone playoff game, a 34-31 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The Dolphins and Tagovailoa are expected to take another leap forward this season, which could reinforce Hill’s words and be a good example to Williamson that things have a way of working themselves out.
