Miami Dolphins announce full 2023 preseason schedule

The Miami Dolphins have announced the dates for all three of their preseason games ahead of the 2023 regular season.

Miami will take on the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 of the preseason on Aug. 11. That matchup is the team’s lone preseason game at home.

The other two preseason games for the Dolphins will be on the road, starting with the Houston Texans in Week 2 on Aug. 19. The team will then play another AFC South team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, in Week 3 on Aug. 26.

These are some solid tune-ups for the Dolphins. Taking on Jacksonville, who won the AFC South and made the playoffs in the 2022 campaign, will be a solid test. Young quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be a good test for the Dolphins if he ends up playing in that preseason game.

The NFL regular season is still a long way away, but Dolphins fans have to be excited about this team after it made the postseason in the 2022 campaign. Although the Dolphins came up short in the first round against the Buffalo Bills, the team didn’t really get to see its full potential since quarterback Tua Tagovailoa missed the game due to a concussion.

The Dolphins made some major moves to improve this offseason, mainly adding help to their secondary. The team traded for star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and it drafted defensive back Cam Smith in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

That should help Miami improve upon last season’s porous pass defense.

The preseason is all about seeing which players on the bubble will ultimately make the team and giving starters some snaps before games start counting.

Atlanta and Houston were two of the worst teams in the NFL last season, but they have a lot of incoming young talent. Therefore, they may want to get extended looks at those players in the preseason. That could make things tougher on Miami in those games, which is a good thing.

The Dolphins’ first regular season game is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers. Miami is on the road against Los Angeles and the New England Patriots in the first two weeks of the season before playing its home opener against the Denver Broncos in Week 3.
