Kenny McIntosh details why it would be a ‘blessing’ to join the Miami Dolphins

Running back Kenny McIntosh revealed why it would be a “blessing” if he were able to join the Miami Dolphins in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft.

McIntosh, a native of South Florida, starred at the University of Georgia and was a part of the school’s back-to-back national title wins.

“Going to the Dolphins, being from South Florida, that would be a blessing,” McIntosh said at the Senior Bowl this week. “That would be the opportunity of a lifetime. That would be God if I stayed at home. That would be really good, especially for my parents.”

The 22-year-old played high school football at NSU University School. He has deep family ties to South Florida, even though he played collegiately at Georgia.

It’s clear that the young running back would love a chance to get to play for his hometown team, especially since the Dolphins could use some youth in their running back room. McIntosh actually grew up a Dallas Cowboys fan, but it would still be a homecoming if he were to get picked by Miami in the draft.

The Dolphins may look to the draft for a running back since both Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr. are set to become free agents this offseason. Mostert had a great season for Miami under head coach Mike McDaniel, but he is also set to turn 31 in April.

If Miami wants an infusion of youth in the backfield, McIntosh could be the perfect fit.

At Georgia, McIntosh didn’t get a chance to start right away. He only appeared in 12 games in his first two seasons with the Bulldogs, receiving just 72 carries. He saw a bigger role in his junior season, amassing 58 carries for 328 yards and three scores.

Still, it wasn’t until the 2022 season that he really showed his full potential as an NFL prospect. McIntosh saw a career-high 149 carries this past season, finishing with 829 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.

He also showed that he is a capable receiver, catching 43 passes for 505 yards and an additional two scores. That versatility makes him an intriguing option at the next level.

The Dolphins also have connections to McIntosh’s family, as the running back’s older brother R.J. was on the team’s practice squad last season.

Kenny McIntosh has an impressive skill set that could help the Dolphins next season, and it certainly would be a heartwarming story if he ended up with his hometown team.
