Former Miami Dolphins WR gets a New England Patriots tattoo after losing bet

Former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall now sports a New England Patriots tattoo after being on the losing end of an on-air wager.

While appearing on the NFL Network last week, Marshall made a bet with former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman about the outcome of the Patriots’ game against the New York Jets this past Sunday.

The Patriots defeated the Jets, 10-3, with the winning touchdown coming on an 84-yard fourth-quarter punt return by the Patriots’ Marcus Jones.

Despite the relatively jovial nature of the bet, Marshall lived up to the terms and showed off his new tattoo as Edelman reveled in his victory.

The Dolphins were one of six NFL teams that Marshall played with during his 13-year career in the league. Marshall was part of the Miami receiving corps in both 2010 and 2011, catching a total of 167 passes for 2,228 yards and nine touchdowns.

Those productive campaigns were actually the only times that Marshall failed to break triple digits in receptions from 2007 to 2013.

During the first of two seasons with the Jets in 2015, Marshall had his final monster season, grabbing 109 passes for 1,502 yards and a league-high 14 touchdown receptions.

That memorable season helps explain why Marshall was eager enough to put his faith in his former team against the Patriots. In the case of Edelman, his choice was obvious, given that he spent all 11 of his years in the NFL with the Patriots, missing the 2017 season because of an ACL injury.

The Patriots’ victory over the Jets actually helped the Dolphins because it brought them even with the Jets at 6-4 on the season. The Dolphins and Bills are currently one game ahead of those two teams at 7-3 in one of the most competitive seasons in recent memory for the AFC East.

Despite the Thanksgiving holiday, the Dolphins will continue to prepare for Sunday’s home matchup against the Houston Texans. One aspect of that contest that Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is sure to emphasize is not to look past the 1-8-1 Texans with a Dec. 4 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers next on the schedule.

The Dolphins figure to be avid viewers for two of the Thanksgiving contests. The first of the three games has the Bills playing on the road against the Detroit Lions, while the Patriots will also be on the road against the Minnesota Vikings.
