The Miami Dolphins have reportedly acquired Bradley Chubb from the Denver Broncos in a major deal ahead of the NFL trade deadline.
The Dolphins are reportedly giving up running back Chase Edmonds and multiple future draft picks in the trade. Miami will also receive a future pick.
To make the situation even more exciting, it sounds like the Dolphins are expected to ink Chubb to a long-term contract. The one-time Pro Bowler could be with the Dolphins for the foreseeable future.
It’s a huge development for the Dolphins organization, and it shows that the team is serious about contending for a Super Bowl title this season and beyond.
Miami is becoming a force to be reckoned with on the trade market. As fans remember, the team also acquired star receiver Tyreek Hill in the offseason.
Chubb will bring a ton to the table for the Dolphins. He has 5.5 sacks on the season and is a nightmare for opposing teams to deal with.
He has also forced two fumbles and racked up 15 solo tackles, 11 assists on tackles, four tackles for loss and eight quarterback hits. The 26-year-old has what it takes to elevate Miami’s defense to new heights.
The Dolphins were rumored to have some interest in Chubb, so the deal isn’t coming out of nowhere, but that doesn’t make it any less monumental. Miami is starting to look like one of the most dangerous teams in the AFC.
The Dolphins are 5-3 on the season and have two winnable games remaining before their bye week. They could very well enter their week off with a record of 7-3, which would put them in fantastic position to earn a playoff bid.
A trip to the postseason would be Miami’s first since the 2016 campaign, which would pump all sorts of new life into the organization. The Dolphins likely have even bigger goals in mind, though. A trip to the Super Bowl and perhaps a championship ring suddenly don’t seem too far-fetched for Miami.
