Eric Rowe appears to be shocked that he’s inactive for Miami Dolphins vs. Detroit Lions

The Miami Dolphins released their list of inactives shortly before their Week 8 matchup against the Detroit Lions. Among the five included on the list was safety Eric Rowe.

However, the 30-year-old seems surprised that he was a scratch for the Sunday contest.

It is unclear why the Dolphins opted to sit out Rowe when he appears to have a clean bill of health.

The last time he missed a game this season was during the team’s season opener against the New England Patriots. After the Week 1 contest, the University of Utah product suited up in the next six games. During that stretch, he had 20 combined tackles.

Miami’s decision to sit Rowe out against the Lions and his subsequent reaction on social media might attract trade speculation in the following days. It will be interesting to see how the partnership between Rowe and Miami turns out.

The Ohio native has been with the franchise since March of 2019, when he signed a one-year deal with the team. Several months later, Rowe agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Dolphins. The deal is set to expire after this season.

Rowe entered the league in the 2015 draft, where he was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round. Incidentally, the draft pick that the Eagles used to select him was one they acquired from the Dolphins in a deal that involved multiple picks.

After a one-year stint in Philadelphia, Rowe was traded to the Patriots. It was with the Patriots that he experienced his best years in the league.

He played a key role in New England’s Super Bowl victory in the 2016 season. Rowe did win another Super Bowl with the team in the 2018 campaign, although he played in just four regular season games and missed the playoffs that season due to a groin injury.

The Dolphins are looking to get a win against the Lions on Sunday and move to 5-3 on the season. They’ll have to do it without Rowe.
