Jaylen Waddle reveals Tua Tagovailoa’s inspiring message that led to WR’s game-winning touchdown
- Updated: September 18, 2022
The Miami Dolphins pulled off an incredible comeback on Sunday afternoon against the Baltimore Ravens. Miami wound up beating the Ravens 42-38 after being down 35-14 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Miami was led by quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and star wide receivers Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill, all of whom had amazing games.
Tagovailoa threw for an incredible 469 yards and six touchdowns. Two of those touchdowns, including the one that won the Dolphins the game, were caught by Waddle.

Following the epic game, Waddle revealed what Tagovailoa told the rest of the team in the huddle right before that play.
Before Jaylen Waddle’s game-winning TD catch, Tua Tagovailoa told the huddle: “It’s either us or them.”
“I felt that. It got me going,” Waddle said.

It’s great that Tagovailoa’s words had a big impact on Waddle. It shows that he’s taking a necessary step and growing as a leader in his third season in the league. Many have labelled the 2022 campaign as a make-or-break season for the former University of Alabama quarterback.
He’s certainly gotten off to a good start, completing 71.1 percent of his passes for 739 yards and a whopping seven touchdowns through the first two games of the season.
Against the Ravens on Sunday, Tagovailoa showed off a nice ability to hit his receivers on deep balls, something that critics have said he isn’t good at.

Tagovailoa has constantly been scrutinized throughout his professional career, with many people already labeling him as a bust due to the performances of Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert, two other quarterbacks from the 2020 NFL Draft.
Sunday’s performance could easily mark a turning point for the Hawaii native, as he looked very poised and confident despite being rattled early on and facing a daunting deficit.
The Dolphins are now 2-0 on the season and in a very good spot. They have games against the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals coming up in successive weeks to close out the first month of the season, so getting wins in each of the first two games of the season is a huge accomplishment.
Mike McDaniel and company have really turned things around for the franchise, and fans in South Florida are very excited for what’s to come.
