Miami Dolphins fans have been given more reasons to be excited for the team’s season opener, as two key players, Raekwon Davis and Andrew Van Ginkel, are expected to play on Sunday against the New England Patriots.
Unfortunately, a few other players are out for the contest.
Davis was a surprise addition to the team’s injury report on Thursday. He apparently sustained a knee injury after not being listed on the report on Wednesday.
The 6-foot-7, 330-pound player is probably not the first name that Dolphins fans think of when discussing Miami’s defense. However, his impact for Miami is undeniable. Last season, he posted 28 combined tackles.
As for Van Ginkel, he is good to go after missing time due to an appendix issue. He had his appendix removed last month.
Van Ginkel missed a significant number of practices during the preseason. The good news is that he has been practicing with the team for about a week now. Hopefully, he has recovered completely.
It is a little concerning that Eric Rowe has yet to make a full recovery from the pectoral injury that has hampered the veteran since the team’s preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Miami will certainly miss him against the Patriots, but with any luck, he’ll be available to play sooner than later this season.
Noah Igbinoghene’s absence is notable as well. The 22-year-old is starting his second straight season on the inactive list.
The Dolphins are looking to start the 2022 season strong and claim a win against their rivals from New England.
Last season, Miami faced off against the Patriots in Week 1, and the Dolphins were able to earn a win by a close margin. That was followed by seven consecutive losses. Hopefully, the team can show improvement in the standings this season after an eventful offseason that saw the organization add key pieces all over the place.
