A.J. Brown offers salty response after Tyreek Hill cooks Darius Slay during joint practice

The Miami Dolphins and Philadelphia Eagles took part in a joint preseason practice on Wednesday, and Dolphins superstar receiver Tyreek Hill had a field day.

A video of Hill absolutely demolishing Eagles star corner Darius Slay quickly made the rounds on social media. It understandably got a lot of Dolphins fans very excited about what is to come from the elite weapon in his first season with the team.

The excitement surely also stemmed from the fact that the pass came from starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Shortly after the video went viral on Twitter, Eagles star receiver A.J. Brown took to Twitter to offer his own take on the situation.

Brown also had a nice day at practice on Wednesday.

Though Brown is a solid player in the NFL, his accomplishments and status pale in comparison to those of Hill. His best season came in the 2020 campaign when he recorded 70 catches for 1,075 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Last season, his numbers dipped significantly. Though he caught just seven less passes, he recorded only 869 receiving yards and five receiving scores.

As for Hill, he finished last season with 111 catches for 1,239 yards and nine touchdowns.

Beyond the disparity in talent between Hill and Brown, there is also a disparity in talent when it comes to the Eagles’ defensive backs and the Dolphins’ defensive backs.

Though Slay and James Bradberry are certainly talented, it’s hard to argue that they are anywhere near as dominant as Xavien Howard and Byron Jones.

At the end of the day, it’s great to see that the combined practice had its intended effect. As starting players rarely get playing time in preseason games these days, these joint practices serve as a way for players across the league to get a reintroduction to the intensity and competitiveness of regular season games.

Clearly, Brown feels a lot of pride in his team and fellow Eagles receivers. It will be interesting to see if he tries to back up his confident words this Saturday when the Eagles and Dolphins face off as part of the final slate of preseason games.
