Report: Miami Dolphins working out young CB in wake of Trill Williams’ devastating injury

The Miami Dolphins reportedly are working out cornerback Raleigh Texada following an injury to defensive back Trill Williams.

With Williams out for the season with a torn ACL, the Dolphins certainly could use some more depth at the position as the preseason goes on.

Texada, who played collegiately at Baylor University, went undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft. He finished his collegiate career with 142 total tackles, two sacks and three interceptions.

During the 2021 season, Texada appeared in 13 games for the Bears and recorded 34 total tackles, two tackles for loss and one sack.

Losing Williams was a big blow to Miami’s depth at corner, although it may open up more playing time for former first-round pick Noah Igbinoghene. If the team also decides to bring on Texada, he could see a lot of action in preseason games as he tries to secure a roster spot.

The Dolphins’ defense has been solid the past few seasons and is a big reason why the team has gone over .500 in each of the last two campaigns.

With Mike McDaniel now taking over as the team’s head coach, the Dolphins are hoping to keep the same defensive intensity that they have had the past two seasons.

Cornerback has been a position of strength for Miami, as Byron Jones and Xavien Howard are two of the best in the business. Williams was hoping to join that group, but instead it could be someone like Texada who ends up making a major impact in 2022.

The Dolphins’ next preseason game is scheduled for Saturday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
