The Miami Dolphins announced on Friday morning that they have signed punter Sterling Hofrichter and released punter Tommy Heatherly.
Heatherly had been competing with veteran Thomas Morstead for the Dolphins’ starting punter job, but it seems like he is now out of the race.
Hofrichter played his college ball at Syracuse University and has spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his professional career.
The Dolphins will play their first preseason game on Aug. 13 against the Buccaneers, so Hofrichter will have a chance to show off his skills then.
