High-ranking NFL executive calls Miami Dolphins youngster Jevon Holland ‘elite’

Jevon Holland of the Miami Dolphins is considered by an anonymous NFL executive to be an “elite” player.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN looked at the results of a survey about the league’s top safeties and shared a ranking of the top 10. Holland was an honorable mention.

“Given what he’s asked to do, he’s elite,” said a high-ranking NFL exec.

Holland wasn’t able to make his way into the top 10 of the list. However, that could be because he’s only been in the NFL for one season.

As a rookie last year, Holland finished with two interceptions as well as 10 passes defended. He also managed to show a knack for bringing down the quarterback, as he totaled 2.5 sacks.

Making that sort of immediate impact after being a second-round selection helped get Holland recognized across the league during the 2021 season. He started 13 of the 16 games he saw action in and helped the Dolphins make a serious push for a playoff bid following a disastrous start.

Now, the Dolphins have new head coach Mike McDaniel running things and are focused on trying to get past the turmoil that’s taken place since the dismissal of former head coach Brian Flores.

Holland and his Dolphins teammates will certainly be ready to get going when training camp opens up later this month.

For Holland, it seems likely that having another strong year would help move him into the category of the top 10 safeties, a sentiment that the Dolphins and their fans echo.
