When NFL stars decide to call it a career, they often find their way back to sports in one way or another.

That is absolutely true for former Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey, who has decided to give back to both the sports world and America’s youth in a fantastic way. He is giving back to kids in the South Florida area by offering elite athletic training for free.

“I’ve had a lot of time on my hands since I was retired, and I was just trying to figure out what I was going to do next in my life, and being around these kids, training them, getting them ready to play sports, turning them from kids to grown men and grown women,” said Pouncey.

Pouncey went on to say that instead of focusing on weight training, the program focuses most on “learning movements, positions specific movements.”

Pouncey believes the training has already impacted the kids involved.

“You can see it, from the time they started training with us weeks ago to right now, they’ve gotten so much better, the improvement you can see week by week,” said Pouncey.

What makes the experience even better for the youngsters attending the program is that it’s all free. Pouncey made millions during his NFL career, and it is clear that he is taking advantage of his fortune to offer the youth of South Florida something special.

“It’s all free for the kids, the only thing we charge is for the parents to give us their time,” said Pouncey. “It doesn’t matter if you play football, you are a girl or a boy, we’ll get ready for you.”

It’s an incredible reminder of what professional athletes can do during and after their careers. Though Pouncey’s last NFL game came back in 2019, it’s fantastic to see that he is learning new ways to contribute to the game of football that he loves so much.
