Former NFL executive praises ‘pretty stacked’ Miami Dolphins offensive line

The Miami Dolphins made some major moves this offseason to improve their offensive line to protect quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Miami went out and signed star left tackle Terron Armstread to anchor the offensive line and also brought in former Dallas Cowboys lineman Connor Williams. Miami’s offensive line has struggled over the past few seasons, but one former general manager is a huge fan of what the Dolphins are doing.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik shared his praises for the Dolphins with the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson.

“Terron Armstead, Connor Williams, that o-line room now is pretty stacked,” Dominik said. “Austin Jackson is out there competing on the right side. If Jackson [the front-runner at right tackle] and Solomon Kindley are your backups, you’re feeling great. Robert Jones makes the team and that’s a really deep offensive line, which is impressive.”

It’s hard to argue with anything Dominik said, as the Dolphins have the depth and talent to be an elite group in the 2022 season. Protecting Tagovailoa, who dealt with injuries in the 2021 season, is clearly a major priority for the Dolphins going forward.

Last season, Tagovailoa appeared in 13 games for the Dolphins, making 12 starts and throwing for 2,653 yards and 16 touchdowns.

While he is one of the most accurate passers in the league, Tagovailoa also took 20 sacks last season.

Now, with an improved group up front, there is hope that he will be able to avoid taking big losses that would ruin drives for Miami.

The Dolphins are hoping that their upgraded offensive line will help them get over the hump and into the playoffs in the 2022 season. Miami has narrowly missed the postseason in each of the last two seasons despite finishing both campaigns over .500.
