Jevon Holland is not only one of the best young safeties in the NFL, but he’s also one of the few players in the league that calls Canada home.
The Miami Dolphins youngster hails from Coquitlam, British Columbia, which is located very close to the border between Canada and the United States. A number of Holland’s Dolphins teammates were challenged to pronounce Holland’s hometown, and the results were pretty hilarious.

While few people may know about Holland’s hometown, the No. 36 overall pick from the 2021 NFL Draft looks like he’s going to be a household name in the near future.
In his rookie season last year, Holland made an instant impact and looked at home as a starter on the team’s defense. He started in 13 of the 16 games he played last season and finished the year with two interceptions, 10 passes defended and three fumble recoveries. He also contributed 69 combined tackles, 2.5 sacks and three tackles for loss.
Safety is typically a harder position for young players to get the hang of coming out of college. Veteran quarterbacks have been known to take advantage of young safeties as they try to catch up to complexities of the game at the professional level.
That did not happen to Holland, however, and he played like a wily vet from the very start.
Of course, he was aided by the Dolphins’ talent in the defensive backfield. Playing alongside the likes of Xavien Howard and Byron Jones surely helped Holland.
Holland will look to take the next step in his progression this upcoming season.
