University of Wisconsin defensive end Matt Henningsen reportedly visited the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday.

Henningsen began his collegiate career as a walk-on, but he has impressed teams with his pro day workout. The Dolphins appear to be interested in him ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Henningsen played four seasons at Wisconsin, and he had arguably his best season for the Badgers in the 2021 campaign. Henningsen appeared in 12 games for the Badgers, and he recorded 34 total tackles, six tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.

The Dolphins could use Henningsen to beef up their defensive line in the 2022 season. He could provide the team with solid depth behind Emmanuel Ogbah and Christian Wilkins.

During his college career, Henningsen recorded 92 total tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks. While he may not have the pedigree of a five-star recruit, Henningsen clearly possesses solid athleticism and skill that has NFL teams interested in him.

The Dolphins’ defense has been one of the team’s biggest strengths over the past few seasons. Now, with new head coach Mike McDaniel leading the way, the Dolphins are hoping to keep their defense strong in the 2022 season.

Miami narrowly missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons under Brian Flores. McDaniel will be tasked with turning the team around and getting the best out of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in the upcoming campaign.

It will be interesting to see if the Dolphins are able to add Henningsen to their roster. Miami has one third-round pick, one fourth-round pick and two seventh-round picks in the upcoming draft.
