For NFL players, the offseason offers a crucial resting period to heal from injuries and nagging pain from the grind of the previous campaign.
For some players, that healing process includes surgery. That appears to be the case for Miami Dolphins star defender Byron Jones.
On Wednesday, Jones took to Instagram and seemingly indicated that he underwent surgery on his lower body.
Players and fans alike have already taken to the comments section of the post to wish Jones a speedy recovery. Star cornerback Xavien Howard was among the early well-wishers, telling Jones to “get well soon.”
One can only wonder what Jones underwent surgery for. He appeared on the team’s injury report last season with many different injuries, but he only missed one game.
Jones has started every game he has appeared in for the Dolphins.
Last season, Jones recorded 58 combined tackles, 10 pass defended and one forced fumble. It was a solid season, but not a remarkable one by Jones’ standards.
As the 2022 NFL season fast approaches, Jones will surely look to recover from this surgery and prepare for what is expected to be a big season in Miami. With new head coach Mike McDaniel calling the shots, the Dolphins could very well take a leap and finally end their lengthy playoff drought.
The team has missed the playoffs for five straight seasons. Miami came very close to clinching a playoff berth in each of the past two seasons.
