Former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores is in the midst of a lawsuit against the NFL and all 32 of its teams.
He recently landed a job as a senior defensive assistant and linebackers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers after interviewing for multiple head coaching positions across the league.
Included in his lawsuit were screenshots of a text conversation he had with New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. Belichick congratulated Flores for landing the New York Giants job.
However, Belichick thought he was talking to former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.
It seems like Daboll essentially won the job before Flores even got a chance to interview with the Giants.
Flores has yet to speak with Belichick since that moment, and he gave an interesting answer when asked if he expects to speak with the legendary head coach again.
Flores spent many years working under Belichick as part of New England’s staff, and he was the team’s linebackers coach when the Dolphins decided to hire him as their head coach back in 2019.
Throughout three seasons with the Dolphins, Flores compiled a record of 24-25. In each of its past two seasons, Miami had a solid chance at making the playoffs but was unable to secure a postseason berth. Despite that, it came as a surprise to many when the Dolphins fired Flores.
The Dolphins haven’t made it to the postseason since the 2016 campaign, and they are certainly hoping that Mike McDaniel, their new head coach, will lead them back to the playoffs.
