New Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is wasting no time filling out his staff.

In some of McDaniel’s latest moves, he has added Tyrone McKenzie, Darrell Bevell, Matt Applebaum and Chandler Henley to the staff.

Of these hires, the additions of Bevell and Applebaum are perhaps two of the more interesting ones. That’s because those two individuals will find themselves working with the Dolphins in areas that are going to be crucial to the team’s success going forward.

Bevell will find himself working closely with Tua Tagovailoa. The young quarterback showed flashes of exciting potential during the 2021 season, and the Dolphins would love nothing more than to see him put it all together throughout the course of an entire campaign.

The Dolphins hovered around the middle of the pack in the NFL in terms of passing yards per game during the 2021 regular season. They averaged 214.8 passing yards per contest. There’s definitely some room for growth in that department.

Applebaum, meanwhile, is a very fascinating hire. It’ll be his job to improve Miami’s offensive line, which is certainly a tall task.

During Applebaum’s time at Boston College, he helped develop some very impressive offensive line prospects. However, some fans felt that the offensive line as a whole often underachieved despite the number of talented players it had.

Applebaum will surely look to get the most out of Miami’s offensive line. It’s an area where the Dolphins are going to need to show some serious signs of improvement in the 2022 season.
