Report: Miami Dolphins hoping to get Michael Deiter back next week

Michael Deiter has not played a game since the Miami Dolphins’ Week 3 match against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The team is reportedly hoping that it can get back its starting center in time for its Week 13 tiff against the New York Giants.

Losing Deiter to injury has dealt a huge blow to the Dolphins’ offense this season. Prior to his injury, he had been one of the team’s most consistent performers. Miami is scoring an average of 18.3 points per game this season, which is the seventh-worst in the league.

The University of Wisconsin product entered the league in 2019 after the Dolphins drafted in the third round of that year’s draft. As a rookie, Deiter played in all of the team’s 16 games, starting in 15 of them. However, during his second year, he was relegated to the bench and did not start a single match in the 2020 season.

This year, he had started Miami’s first three games before getting injured in early October.

The team is certainly hoping that Deiter’s possible return can help boost an offensive line that has struggled all season long.

Miami is currently 4-7 in the standings. Though it has won three its past three games, its seven consecutive losses prior to the win streak has made its goal of reaching the playoffs for the first time since the 2016 season more difficult.

The Dolphins are currently battling the Carolina Panthers. After their match versus the Giants next week, they will have a bye in Week 14 before finishing up the regular season.
