Report: New York Jets planning to start Joe Flacco at quarterback vs. Miami Dolphins

The New York Jets are reportedly set to start veteran quarterback Joe Flacco against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Mike White had started the team’s past three games, but after a rough outing in Week 10 against the Buffalo Bills, it seems like Jets head coach Robert Saleh wants some more experience at the quarterback position against the Dolphins.

Flacco made an appearance in the Jets’ loss to the Bills, completing all three of his passes for 47 yards and one touchdown.

The former first-round pick has plenty of starting experience in the league, having been the starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens for many seasons. During his time in the league, Flacco has completed 61.7 percent of his passes for 40,978 yards, 225 touchdowns and 144 interceptions.

The 36-year-old helped the Ravens win a Super Bowl during the 2012 NFL season, as he threw for 1,140 yards, 11 touchdowns and no interceptions in that season’s playoffs.

Sunday will mark the first game between the two teams this season. They are also scheduled to play against each other on Dec. 19.

New York currently sits at the bottom of the AFC East standings with a 2-7 record while the Dolphins are right above them with a record of 3-7.

In the Dolphins’ Week 10 victory against the Ravens, the team decided to blitz on many plays in an attempt to fluster Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. It seems like the Jets want to have some experience behind center in case the Dolphins decide to use that same game plan.
