Report: Miami Dolphins offer major update regarding Tua Tagovailoa’s status for game vs. New York Jets

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa hasn’t started in either of the team’s past two games, as he is dealing with a finger injury.

However, he did play in the team’s impressive 22-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.

Dolphins head coach Brian Flores announced on Monday that Tagovailoa will be starting against the New York Jets in Week 11.

The 23-year-old looked pretty good against the Ravens as he came in for the injured Jacoby Brissett. In that game, Tagovailoa completed eight of his 13 passes for 158 yards. He didn’t throw for any touchdowns, but he did run for a score.

Although he will start against the Jets, Tagovailoa is still limited, according to Flores.

“He’s definitely limited; definitely some discomfort,” Flores said. “He hit the finger again [Thursday against Baltimore]. We will monitor that as the week goes. Get the swelling out of there, do the best we can.”

In six games this season, the University of Alabama product has completed 65.3 percent of his passes for 1,198 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions.

Miami is currently on a two-game winning streak after beating the Ravens. The Dolphins are now 3-7 on the season, but they have a favorable string of games coming up. If they can get a couple of more victories, they could easily insert themselves back into playoff contention.

With just seven games left in the season, Tagovailoa will be hoping to impress the Dolphins organization. Prior to the trade deadline, the team had been showing interest in Deshaun Watson. However, Miami decided not to trade for him.
