According to a report, the Miami Dolphins are likely going to be without a key target in Sunday’s season opener against the New England Patriots.

Wide receiver Preston Williams is not expected to play.

Health has been a lingering concern for Williams throughout his young NFL career. In his rookie season, he appeared in just eight games, and in his sophomore season, he also appeared in just eight games.

Over 16 NFL games so far, the youngster has racked up 50 receptions for 716 yards and seven touchdowns. The potential is certainly there, but staying on the field needs to be the top priority for the Colorado State University product.

Many fans are hoping to see Williams take a big step forward this season. Missing Sunday’s game would be a rocky start to the year for him, but with any luck, he’ll be ready to return to game action at some point in the near future.

The Dolphins are going to need some key pass-catchers to step up and have big days if they want to knock off the Patriots on Sunday.
