Albert Wilson realized ‘how much I love playing for the Dolphins’ after year off from football

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Albert Wilson has turned some heads during training camp.

After sitting out the 2020 season to protect his family from COVID-19, Wilson has returned and showed the burst from 2018, when he had 391 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns in just seven games.

Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki made sure to praise his teammate on Thursday, saying that Wilson looks like the 2018 version of himself.

Wilson revealed that taking a year away from the game helped him realize how much he loves playing in Miami.

“I knew if I had an opportunity to make this team I was going to make this team,” he said. “The year off helped me build up mentally and physically. [Skipping a season] made me realize how much I love football and how much I love playing for the Dolphins.”

Wilson will compete with Will Fuller, Jaylen Waddle and DeVante Parker for snaps at receiver this season.

If he can continue to show that he’s back to his old self, Wilson could help the Dolphins earn a playoff spot this season.
