Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa only needed four words to describe the value that comes with having tight end Mike Gesicki as part of the team’s offense.
Gesicki is starting his fourth NFL season after having been a second-round pick of the Dolphins during the 2018 NFL Draft.
In his first three years, Gesicki has quickly emerged as an inviting target, with Tagovailoa being the latest Dolphins passer to discover that fact.
Last season, the 25-year-old Gesicki had his best season yet, grabbing 53 passes for 703 yards and scoring six touchdowns.
That level of production marked the second consecutive season that Gesicki had broken the 50-catch threshold. He offers even more promise for the 2021 campaign.
The reason for such high hopes is the fact that Tagovailoa is preparing for his second season after getting his feet wet last year. Tagovailoa’s 2020 campaign saw him run a more conservative offense to allow him to get more comfortable.
If Gesicki is able to deliver another strong season by remaining an inviting target for Tagovailoa, the Dolphins could very well be headed to the postseason after narrowly missing out last year.
