Shaquem Griffin admits he started ‘screaming in the house’ after getting signed by the Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins linebacker Shaquem Griffin recently revealed that he was excited to the point of “screaming in the house” when the team decided to sign him.

“I started screaming in the house,” Griffin said. “It was like being drafted all over again. … I calmed back down and I had a good conversation with the coach. The opportunity is amazing, and I’m just glad they gave me a shot.”

Griffin is an inspirational story. He was born with a syndrome that affected the development of his left hand, and he ultimately had to have the hand amputated.

Despite the setback, he pursued his dreams of being a football player. He made a name for himself at the University of Central Florida, racking up 122 solo tackles and 18.5 sacks during his career there.

He was picked in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks, and his journey eventually led him to a deal with the Dolphins.

For his pro career, Griffin has totaled 17 solo tackles so far. He slides in as a nice addition for Miami, and his story will make him incredibly easy for fans to root for.

The Dolphins are looking to take the next step in their rebuild in the 2021 season after barely missing the playoffs in the 2020 campaign.
