Just days before their training camp opens, the Miami Dolphins announced the signing of 2021 draft pick Jevon Holland, a safety from the University of Oregon, on Friday.
Holland was selected with the first of two second-round picks the Dolphins had in this year’s draft and was the 36th overall selection.
No terms regarding the contract have been announced, though the Dolphins have high hopes that Holland will be able to become an asset in the team’s secondary.
Holland has good size and also showed a knack for making big plays while at Oregon, finishing with nine interceptions during his collegiate career.
Whether or not Holland will advance quickly enough during training camp to join the Dolphins’ starting lineup remains to be seen.
Besides training camp, the Dolphins will play in three preseason contests before their season opener against the New England Patriots on Sept. 12.
