Tua Tagovailoa’s personal trainer says he ‘can’t wait for him to silence the haters’ this season

Tua Tagovailoa’s personal trainer Nick Hicks recently expressed his excitement for the second-year quarterback to have a resurgent 2021 season that will prove the doubters wrong.

“I just can’t wait for him to silence the haters who think he’s not the guy — because he’s the guy,” Hicks said.

“I know deep down in my heart, that he is going to bring us AFC championships as well as possible Super Bowls if we build around him.”

Without question, Tagovailoa has some doubters at the moment. The former No. 5 overall draft pick struggled to find his footing at times throughout his rookie campaign in the 2020 season.

Over 10 games, Tagovailoa completed 64.1 percent of his passes for 1,814 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Miami Dolphins fell just short of a playoff berth, finishing the regular season with a 10-6 record.

One concern some fans have expressed is the fact that veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will no longer be around to mentor Tagovailoa as he did last year. Fitzpatrick’s presence seemed invaluable to Tagovailoa’s growth, but the 38-year-old Fitzpatrick signed with the Washington Football Team this offseason.

The Dolphins were able to bring in some exciting offensive weapons through the draft, including wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the University of Alabama. Tagovailoa and Waddle were teammates at Alabama and already have a well-established chemistry.

Perhaps the two will become an elite duo with the chemistry they developed together at the collegiate level.
