David Carr predicts Jaylen Waddle to be most impactful non-QB rookie this season

Former NFL quarterback and current NFL.com analyst David Carr predicted that Jaylen Waddle will have the biggest impact among rookies that are not quarterbacks next season.

“I’ll keep this short and sweet,” Carr wrote. “Jaylen Waddle is going to be the reason Tua Tagovailoa is considered Miami’s franchise quarterback after this season.”

Waddle, who went to the University of Alabama and played with Tagovailoa in college, was the No. 6 overall pick in this year’s NFL draft.

He adds another weapon to Miami’s offense that already sports DeVante Parker, Will Fuller and Mike Gesicki.

Waddle’s rapport with Tagovailoa should help the second-year quarterback take the next step in 2021 and help the Dolphins make it to the playoffs.

Miami finished 10-6 last season, but Tagovailoa was a little underwhelming. He threw for just 1,814 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions in his rookie season.

In six games last season at Alabama, Waddle caught 28 passes for 591 yards and four scores.

Carr clearly believes that explosiveness will translate to the NFL and help the Dolphins this coming season.
