Travis Kelce ranks Mike Gesicki as top 5 tight end in NFL: ‘He’s fun to watch’
- Updated: June 1, 2021

In the opinion of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Mike Gesicki of the Miami Dolphins ranks among the top players at that position currently playing in the NFL.
Kelce was recently asked to name the NFL’s top five tight ends, excluding himself. He closed out his short list with Gesicki listed among that select group of talent.

“I’ll go George Kittle, Darren Waller, wow,” Kelce said. “I would say Zach Ertz, when he’s out there and he’s getting the opportunity. Mark Andrews, what he’s been doing over there in Baltimore has been pretty impressive. I’ll go Gesicki, Mike Gesicki from the Dolphins. He’s fun to watch.”
Gesicki has played three seasons with the Dolphins after being selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. During that time, he’s caught 126 passes and 11 touchdown passes, breaking the 50-catch threshold in each of the past two seasons.
Gesicki’s 53 receptions during the 2020 campaign were second to only DeVante Parker and offered rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa a reliable passing option.
With the infusion of talent added to the Dolphins’ wide receiving corps during the offseason, Gesicki’s numbers could conceivably come down during the 2021 season.
Yet, it’s clear that one of the NFL’s top tight ends has a high opinion of Gesicki’s talent, with the Dolphins being the beneficiaries of that ability.
