Report: Penei Sewell pegged as ‘possibility’ for Miami Dolphins at No. 6 overall pick in upcoming draft

Reports indicate that the Miami Dolphins could be looking to draft University of Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell with their first pick in this week’s NFL draft.

With that in mind, another report said that one source would be “beyond stunned” if Sewell ended up becoming the pick.

The Dolphins are in the midst of rearranging their offensive line in order to provide as much protection for their quarterback of the future, second-year man Tua Tagovailoa.

Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that the Dolphins made a trade with the Washington Football Team that sent Ereck Flowers to Washington, where he played in 2019 before being signed as a free agent by the Dolphins last year.

Sewell is a massive presence at 6-foot-4 and 331 pounds and is largely considered to be among the top available offensive linemen in the 2021 draft.

Robert Hunt was a second-round selection of the Dolphins in last year’s draft, with a shift to guard potentially pairing him with another 2020 pick, Solomon Kindley.

While the Dolphins may end up selecting someone other than Sewell with the sixth overall pick, they still have three other choices among the top 50 selections. That should provide other opportunities for the team to build up its line.
