The Miami Dolphins are interested in drafting a feature running back to improve their ground game in 2021, according to ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe.
“But let’s focus on running backs, which could be a target for the Dolphins’ other top picks at No. 18 as well as two second-round picks (Nos. 36 and 50),” Wolfe wrote.
“The Dolphins are interested in drafting a feature running back, sources told ESPN, with added intrigue in bigger, complete backs.”
The Dolphins could target University of Alabama running back Najee Harris in the 2021 NFL Draft to lead their backfield.
Other top running backs that Miami may take a look at include Clemson University’s Travis Etienne and the University of North Carolina’s Javonte Williams.
Last season, Miami’s backfield was a revolving door that featured the likes of Jordan Howard, Salvon Ahmed, Myles Gaskin and Matt Breida.
Miami has made it a focus to improve the weapons around quarterback Tua Tagovailoa this offseason.
The team added wide receiver Will Fuller in free agency, but it may look to the draft to find the franchise running back to take some pressure off of Tagovailoa’s arm next season.
