Report: Miami Dolphins release linebacker Kyle Van Noy

The Miami Dolphins reportedly released linebacker Kyle Van Noy on Tuesday.

Van Noy, 29, signed a four-year, $51 million deal with the Dolphins last offseason, but he became a cap casualty for Miami this offseason.

By releasing Van Noy, the Dolphins save $9.75 million on the cap, but they are incurring $4.125 million in dead cap.

Last season, Van Noy appeared in 14 games, making 13 starts. He had 69 tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

The Dolphins will likely turn to Andrew Van Ginkel to replace Van Noy on defense.

Van Ginkel made 11 starts for the Dolphins last season, racking up 48 tackles and 5.5 sacks.

The Dolphins could use the extra cap space to bolster their offense, but it seems that they are admitting a miss by releasing Van Noy after one season.
