The Miami Dolphins reportedly could be a landing spot for star wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency if the Pittsburgh Steelers don’t re-sign him.
Miami could use another wideout opposite DeVante Parker, and Smith-Schuster is a proven player that could take the Dolphins’ offense to the next level.
“CBS reported Pittsburgh could place the franchise tag on Smith-Schuster (which could be in the $16 million range) and then trade him,” the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson wrote. “He likes the idea of staying in Pittsburgh, telling reporters last week: ‘Just because they’re offering more money, the grass is not always greener on the other side. I kind of like where I’m at with the grass I’m on.’ An associate included Miami on a list of teams that could hold appeal to him if the Steelers don’t keep him.”
The Dolphins should be looking for any way to upgrade their playmakers around quarterback Tua Tagovailoa this offseason.
Tagovailoa had a solid rookie year, as he led the Dolphins to a 6-3 record in his nine starts.
Adding a player like Smith-Schuster would immediately give Tagovailoa two top options on the outside.
Last season, Smith-Schuster caught 97 passes for 831 yards and nine touchdowns for the Steelers.
At just 24 years of age, Smith-Schuster could help create a lethal duo with Parker for years to come in Miami.
