The NFL is heading into one of the more interesting offseasons in recent memory. Teams trading star quarterbacks are no longer taboo or out of the ordinary, and the Miami Dolphins could be among one of the franchises to do just that over the next few months.
Once rumors surfaced about Deshaun Watson wanting the Houston Texans to trade him, the Dolphins have been named a possible destination. This has led to speculation about Tua Tagovailoa’s immediate future in Miami.
Although the Dolphins could ultimately decide to trade for Watson, Peter King of NBC Sports believes Tagovailoa will be the starter under center to start the 2021 NFL season.
The Dolphins took a giant leap forward in 2020, with head coach Brian Flores turning Miami into a legitimate force to be reckoned with on both sides of the football.
Although Tagovailoa struggled at times after becoming the starting quarterback and was benched for Ryan Fitzpatrick more than once, the University of Alabama product showed promise with a potentially bright future ahead.
In the 10 games he played during his rookie campaign, Tagovailoa threw for 1,814 yards, 11 total touchdowns and five interceptions.
