Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson reportedly could request a trade and may consider the Miami Dolphins.
Watson, who threw 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions this season, has a no-trade clause in his contract. However, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported that he could consider waiving it to go to Miami.
In a deal for Watson, Miami would likely have to trade quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. However, Watson is one of the league’s top players and could maximize Miami’s playoff and championship windows.
Watson reportedly has been frustrated with the Texans’ general manager search that ended in the hiring of Nick Caserio.
In addition, he has been unsatisfied with the organization’s insensitivity to social justice.
Miami missed the playoffs this season, but it still went 10-6. If the Dolphins view Watson as a better long-term option than Tagovailoa, they could pull the trigger on a trade.
