Report: Miami Dolphins part ways with defensive line coach Marion Hobby

The Miami Dolphins will have a new defensive line coach for the 2021 season after the team and Marion Hobby came to a mutual parting of ways.

Hobby had coached in the NFL for several seasons, including the last two with the Dolphins. Prior to his arrival, he had served as an assistant with the New Orleans Saints in 2006 and 2007 and later worked for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2017 and 2018.

In between those two stops, Hobby served for six seasons (2011 to 2016) as a co-defensive coordinator and defensive ends coach for Clemson University.

Under Hobby’s leadership in 2020, defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah led the Dolphins with nine sacks in his first season with the team, while both Zach Sieler and Christian Wilkins showed improvement during their second years in Miami.

Hobby also worked with rookie Raekwon Davis, who finished with no sacks, but did end the year with 40 stops.

The Dolphins narrowly missed a playoff berth in 2020 with head coach Brian Flores wasting little time in revamping his staff. Earlier in the week, Dolphins offensive coordinator Chan Gailey resigned his position with the team.
