Tua Tagovailoa pens hopeful message to Miami Dolphins fans: ‘Roses will bloom again’

Despite a tough ending to his first NFL season, Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa went on social media to salute the support of his team’s fan base.

Tagovailoa was taken by the Dolphins with the fifth overall pick in last April’s NFL draft, despite concerns about his ability to stay healthy.

Yet, Tagovailoa eventually took over the starting job behind center and won six of his nine starts for the Dolphins.

Tagovailoa threw for 1,814 yards and 11 touchdowns during his time on the field in 2020, with three of his five interceptions coming in the season finale loss to the Buffalo Bills.

That defeat ended up costing the Dolphins a playoff berth, but Tagovailoa gave hints over the course of the 2020 campaign that he has the potential to become a franchise quarterback.

Tagovailoa’s tireless work ethic and willingness to put in the hours needed to become a standout NFL quarterback offer promise that he’ll take a huge step forward in 2021.

One player that Tagovailoa would love to emulate is Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

As a rookie in 2017, Mahomes played in one game. He then won the league’s MVP award the following year by throwing for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns.
