Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores seems to be pleased with rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s ball security this season.
When asked about the lack of big plays that the rookie has generated, Flores pointed to the fact that avoiding turnovers is at the top of his list for what he wants from his quarterback.
The Dolphins are 5-2 when Tagovailoa has started this season, and his lack of turnovers is a big reason why.
Miami’s defense has been one of the best units in the league this year. Tagovailoa’s ball security has allowed the Dolphins to win the field position battle.
Tagovailoa has only thrown for over 300 yards once this season, but the conservative style of play has still translated to wins for Miami.
The No. 5 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft has shown that he can play winning football, and Miami is in the playoff picture because of it.
As Tagovailoa continues to grow, there will be more opportunities for big plays and big games.
However, with Miami’s rebuild already ahead of schedule, the Dolphins and Flores seem perfectly content with him managing games and getting wins.
