Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores benched rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in Miami’s Week 11 loss to the Denver Broncos.
Tagovailoa and the Dolphins offense struggled to move the ball against Denver.
The rookie completed just 11 of his 20 pass attempts for 83 yards and a score before he was replaced by Ryan Fitzpatrick.
While the benching certainly wasn’t what Flores or Tagovailoa wanted, the head coach did say that his rookie quarterback is handling adversity well.
Tagovailoa is expected to be back under center in Week 12 against the New York Jets.
The Dolphins are 3-1 since Tagovailoa took over the starting gig. Now, they get a chance to improve on their 6-4 record against a winless Jets team.
Tagovailoa will look to bounce back and keep Fitzpatrick at bay after last week’s disappointing performance.
