Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa admits he may never be his ‘old self’ again

Miami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa admitted that he may never be his “old self” from his college days at the University of Alabama.

At the end of last season, Tagovailoa suffered a brutal hip injury that brought many questions on whether or not he would be able to live up to the expectations of him before the injury.

Still, the Dolphins took Tagovailoa at No. 5 in the 2020 NFL Draft. So far, the move has paid off, as the Dolphins have won both of Tagovailoa’s starts this season.

While the injury certainly has changed Tagovailoa’s career, he has looked no worse for wear in the NFL.

So far this season, Tagovailoa has appeared in three games (two starts) and completed 34 of his 52 passes for 350 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

In the Dolphins’ win in Week 9 over the Arizona Cardinals, Tagovailoa outdueled Kyler Murray, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft to get Miami to 5-3 on the season.

Tagovailoa showed why he was so highly touted out of Alabama, throwing for 248 yards and two scores.

Miami scored 34 points in the win, showing just how high-powered its offense can be with Tagovailoa at the helm.

He may never feel like his “old self” but this current version of Tagovailoa seems to be just as good.
