As the NFL trade deadline approaches on Tuesday, the Miami Dolphins made an uncharacteristic trade with the division rival New England Patriots, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Patriots have struggled all season long with Bill Belichick and company winning only two games thus far with new starting quarterback Cam Newton under center.
Along with Newton struggling to adjust to his new surrounding in New England, the Patriots desperately need a boost to their receiving corps with Julian Edelman on the mend. Isaiah Ford may provide that boost for New England as it tries to turn its season around.
As for the Dolphins, Tua Tagovailoa is coming off his first win as a starter in the NFL, with Miami getting the best of the Los Angeles Rams this past weekend.
With Ford now headed to New England, the Dolphins could look to Lynn Bowden Jr. and Malcolm Perry to fill the void.
In seven games this season, Ford recorded 18 receptions for 184 yards for the Dolphins.
