Report: Ryan Fitzpatrick a major reason Miami Dolphins have ‘no appetite’ to play Tua Tagovailoa

Just a day after Miami Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki called Ryan Fitzpatrick the “greatest teammate” he’s ever had, offensive coordinator Chan Gailey continued to heap praise on the veteran quarterback.

Fitzpatrick is highly regarded in the organization, making it hard for Miami to justify starting rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

While Miami drafted Tagovailoa with the No. 5 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Fitzpatrick has held off the rookie with some solid play through the first five games of the season.

Fitzpatrick has led Miami to a 2-3 record and thrown for 1,344 yards through the season’s first five games.

In addition, Fitzpatrick has scored nine total touchdowns this season. He’s thrown seven passing touchdowns and added two rushing touchdowns.

He is coming off a monster performance against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Fitzpatrick threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns in the upset win.

The Dolphins certainly value the veteran’s presence in the locker and on the field, and it seems that he has done enough to hold off Tagovailoa for the time being.
