The Miami Dolphins reportedly are promoting rookie defensive end Tyshun Render to the active roster ahead of their game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Render, 23, went undrafted out of Middle Tennessee State University.
Render redshirted his first season at Middle Tennessee State before playing four seasons for the Lightning.
Over four seasons, Render amassed 119 tackles and 6.5 sacks. In his senior season, Render picked up 49 tackles, 3.5 sacks and the lone interception of his collegiate career.
The Dolphins will add Render to their pass rush as they attempt to slow down the 49ers offense on Sunday.
San Francisco usually sports a lethal rushing attack, but it has lost running backs Tevin Coleman and Raheem Mostert to injury in the past couple weeks.
Mostert is listed as questionable for this week’s contest.
The Dolphins are looking to get to 2-3 on the season with a win on Sunday.
