Report: 49ers announce game-changing update to Jimmy Garoppolo for matchup vs. Dolphins
- Updated: October 9, 2020
The Miami Dolphins are hoping to get a win versus the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Given a recent report regarding quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo’s status for the game, that win will be hard to come by.
49ers’ HC Kyle Shanahan said QB Jimmy Garoppolo will start Sunday vs. Dolphins.

Garoppolo hasn’t played since late September due to a high right ankle sprain. In that time, the 49ers have gone 1-1.
On the season, Garoppolo has looked sharp, passing for 390 yards and four touchdowns with a completion percentage of 67.3. He has yet to toss an interception this season.
With that in mind, the Dolphins are likely to get a defensive boost on Sunday. Star cornerback Byron Jones was a full participant in practice on Thursday and seems on track to return.
On the season, the Dolphins have gone 1-3. All three losses have come against teams that advanced to the playoffs last season.
That string of tough games against contenders continues this weekend, but the Dolphins will look to end their losing streak against such squads.
