The Miami Dolphins are reportedly expected to sign running back Salvon Ahmed to their 53-man roster.

The Dolphins will have to place a player on injured reserve or cut someone from the active roster to make room for Ahmed.

The University of Washington product is in his first NFL season after going undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft.

He spent time with the San Francisco 49ers during training camp but was released in late August. Ironically, Miami will take on San Francisco this Sunday.

Ahmed joins a crowded backfield that features Myles Gaskin, Matt Breida and Jordan Howard.

Gaskin has emerged as the team’s lead back despite the fact that Miami signed Howard and traded for Breida this offseason.

Ahmed figures to provide more depth to the group.

At Washington, Ahmed rushed for 1,020 yards as a junior on just 188 carries (5.4 yards per carry). He also scored 11 rushing touchdowns.
